An established and versatile artist, who enjoys a demand for her vibrant semi-abstracts, as well as finely detailed landscapes in both oils and acrylics. Judy’s paintings are distinctive for their energy, rich tones and strong interweaving elements of design.
Judy’s paintings frequently tell-a-story, incorporating a warm human element into the landscapes, and often capturing some appealing interaction between children or adults and their environment.
Judy has exhibited widely and successfully for over 25 years, participating in numerous solo, joint and group exhibitions, both regionally and nationally. Over many years, she has tutored to adult classes in painting, drawing, and calligraphy, and been Guest Artist in several regions.
For the past 15 years, Judy has been one of 75 invited artists from around NZ, selling well at the annual ART-X National Art Exhibition, Napier. Other Annual Exhibitions have included the prestigious : 4rtworks at the Hilton; NZ Academy of Fine Arts; NZ Art Show, Wellington; plus, Art Galleries in Taupo, Auckland, New Plymouth, Hamilton; and Hawkes Bay.
Judy has received seven Nationwide Art Awards, including several years among the top nationwide finalists in the Telecom Art awards.
Coming from a family of accomplished artists (over several generations), Judy has painted continuously since her childhood. By her early 20’s, she was illustrating children’s stories and primary readers.
During past years, Judy has been involved in many Art School courses, assisted in Weekend Seminars, and Advanced Art Workshops, (held in Dunedin, Christchurch, Hastings, Hamilton, & Auckland.)
As an enthusiastic artist, Judy is continually exploring new subjects and techniques, as ways of expressing her creative ideas onto canvas.
Ongoing study is aided by regular trips overseas, while seeking out fresh material, and by visiting notable galleries and artists, both overseas and within N.Z. She continues to operate from her Art studio in the Napier area.
Judy’s paintings can be found throughout New Zealand and in collections in Australia, Canada, South Africa, U.A.E., United States, and Great Britain.
